About me:
Already as a little boy I was a real sports-enthusiast. In the age of 8 I took part at my first competitions, which were street-running competitions, where I also could manage to win some of those races.
In primary schooll I tried my luck at ball games, in soccer precisly, but I relativly soon had to recognize that I am much faster without a ball so I decided to stick to running.
Inspired by my older brother Gerhard, I first tried Orienteering and than started training orienteering in school, in the "Gymnasium" in Oberschuetzen.
It was a sport that fascinated me already from the beginning as it combines running and thinking.
Orienteering - in my beginning as an orienteer my main goal in Orienteering was to manage to find my way back again, out of the forest, instead of even trying to win races.
It took some years - until the 12th September 1999 - until I could enter a victory on my credit side.
Dating back to that special date, the era "Lang (Markus)" in orienteering began ...
