Regional championships in xc-skiing

On sunday the regional xc-skiing championships were held in St. Jakob i.W..
The race was over 10km in classic style. As defending champion my goal, of course, was to keep the title in my hands.
Stephan Varga, who has won several times, and Gernot Kerschbaumer were my biggest rivals for the championship title.

Thanks to my coach we have found a pretty good waxing combination. On the one hand the skis were fast (which my Fischer Skis always are ;-) ) and on the other hand I had enough grip to manage the steeper climbs. So it was just my physical strength that could have made me loose the race.
In fact, that day, I felt really strong so that unlike other years, where it was a fight for seconds, I could win by quite a big margin. Needing 29:44 min for the course I could win by a gap slightly above 2 minutes to Stephan, who was second, and Gernot. Between those two the gap was only 15 seconds.
For one more year I can call myself "Burgenländischer Landesmeister im Skilanglauf"

The next weeks I will be skiing quite a lot too, including a skiing camp with the Austrian Military Team. End of January, when I am back in Sweden, I want to take part in a little longer classic skiing competition in Borlänge (Maserloppet) over 42km to have a test on longer competitions.
